Spring Cycling

Spring has an arrived and the weather is now perfect to be out and about on your bike. We have already had a number of interesting rides in September , including the recent Toothbrush Tour from Ourimbah to Windsor with an overnight stay in Wiseman’s Ferry. What a lovely ride along the Hawkesbury River and best carrot cake ever at the Wombat Cafe, home of home made cakes and pies.

October’s calendar is also looking full, so check out some great rides that are coming up.

Pace – what does it mean? There is a scale of 1 to 10 that describes pace in cycling circles.
1 = very light (minimal effort)
2= light (light effort)
3 = Moderate (conversational pace)
4 = Somewhat hard (challenging but manageable)
5 = Hard (conversation becomes difficult)
6 = Harder (requires more focus)
7 = Very Hard (near the limit)
8 = Very Challenging
9 = Near your max
10 = Maximum effort

Spokes social rides are mostly in the 1-4 range while Spokes training rides are 5-7 range. If you were doing interval training your range would be up to 8-10.
