Hello there

Is it now cold enough to just roll over in bed and get up later rather than head out on early morning rides ? For those who have escaped Sydney for warmer climes this may not be such a problem. The Treasurer and myself are enjoying the summer in Britain , where 28c is considered a heatwave. I was also in Milan in May and caught up with the President of the Italian gay cycling club. We were able to swap notes. Surprisingly, there is only one gay cycling group in Italy, which is based in Milan. While the city of Milan is not so cycle friendly, there are lots of great rides very close by and a massive cycle way that runs along the canal system that can take you from the centre of the city out to the countryside. It’s worth exploring if you are there. The Italian group are mainly road cyclists , putting on fortnightly rides outside Milan .

So, if you are still hibernating you could start to plan your return to the bike in spring. Why not join Bicycle NSW Spring Cycle? Yes it’s back again where you can join other cyclists and ride over the Sydney Harbour Bridge car free. Maybe we should have a Spokes Team?

Check out the ride here: https://springcycle.com.au/.

If you are up and about there are plenty of road rides coming up this winter. If slower rides are more your thing , there will be the annual ride to the Camellia Gardens in August and I’ll be planning a cheese shopping safari around the inner west once I’m back in July.

In the meantime check out our rides on the calendar and ensure your bike is serviced for your next foray…
